Bukhansan National Park Jeongneung Visitor Center

Challenging hiking in the Seoul area. Hike Dongbonsan trail or maybe I should say "climb" the trail. Upper body strength required to assist in the assent. Using public transportation, get off at Mangwolsa station. Not recommended for younger children.

Went for solo hiking. The locals oldies were better than me. Took me about 5 hours to complete hiking

We went Bukhansan for hiking in very nice autumn sunday and it was absolutely awesome. Nice view, nice atmosphere. To reach there, use subway line 3, get off at gubapal station, exit 1 and transfer to bus 34/704/8772 to reach the entrance. Then from there you can decide which way to go yo 백운대, the highest peak in Bukhansan

Hike the highest peak in Seoul here for free. Recommended to bring hot food and coffee from home/hotel (a few cafes available at the entrance but seems like nobody really eats there) to enjoy them at the top with slightly colder weather. It took me around 2.5 hours to hike via the toughest trail (shorter) and 3 hours to come down via the easiest trail (longer). A lot of locals including the elderly hiked here occasionally especially on the weekend so it's nice to greet them with the only Korean word I know - annyeonghaseyo - haha. Tips: Please wear proper shoes as it could be slippery sometimes. Sandals are not recommended though you can still hike with them. There are buses from the city to come here. Do check on them if you're not driving.
