Encyclopedia of Ethnic Culture Pungle Gyeongsangnam-do Tangible Cultural Property No. 143. Joo Se-bung was the founder of the Baekundang Seowon, the first seowon in Korea in 1543 (38 of King Joongjong). The Seowon in memory of Ju Se-Bung was built in 1591 (Seonjo 24) as Dongrim Seowon (桐林書院), but was destroyed during the Imjin War. In 1660 (Hyeonjong 1), it was rebuilt in Namgo, his hometown, and in 1676 (Sukjong 2), he received a private money called Deokyeonseowon (德淵書院). When the Seowon was destroyed in 1868 (Gojong 5), Yeongjeong was moved to Jongga Shrine, and in 1919, in accordance with the public opinion of Sarim, Musan Seowon was established next to the shrine. This Seodang was burned during the Korean War, and the current Musanseodang was built after that. The layout of the building is different from the typical layout of Seowon, with Gwangpunggak, Mureungsa, and Jangpangak standing in a row at the back of the Seodang. Musanseodang is a straight flat building with 5 compartments in the front and 1 compartment on the side, and is a Mindori house without any pojak. It is a single-edged eight-jak tiled building with no side effects. Musansa has long since lost its function as a Seodang, but has remained the spiritual proprietor of Sangju Joo's Dongseong Village. In the precincts of Musansa Temple, the spirit of Ju Se-bung is enclosed in Gwangpunggak, and 352 copies of 『Mureungjapgo』, 『Soogujip』, and 『Gubongjip Book』 are housed in Jangpangak.
