I was stationed at Camp Hovey , South Korea in 1984. My first tour overseas. I love the Korean people and the culture. The best way to experience Korea is to take your camera off the beaten path & walk into the remote villages. The universal language is being "human". All you need is a desire to get out of your comfort zone & experience new things. You can also take an 8 hour train ride to Seoul. I stayed at the Chosum Beach Hotel right on the water. It's a gorgeous, high-end hotel that i totally recommend. Korea is "shoppers paradise". Once I took a magazine picture of a pair of sandals to someone who hand made shoes & he made them for about $15.00. Even if you are not in the military it is a place everyone should visit.

Slow. No rush to complete anything. If your going to get more than one or two items you will be waiting longer than usual. The biggest roadblock is the CBRN station. One speed: slow.

It was the best CIF experience I have ever had in my 22 years in the army. It was the middle of July and they gave me so much extreme cold weather gear to add to my hand receipt! Now I am officially responsible for as much useless gear as the price of a Cadillac!

Back in the day this was the 102nd's chow hall. Based on the quality of the food back then, it probably tastes better today.
