Eladetta Walauwa

A must visit place (but not sure it us open for public) in my life time I have only visited ones thought this walauwa is not more than 500 meters from my home... But this a well maintained, beautiful and antique house and most of lands in udunuwara and eladatha area was owned by this gamaralle (this house owner in the king times) and it's been told he was a kind and donated most of the land for needy. It is said He did donate the land for Ambarapola mosque and the Muslim burial grounds.

My family and I would like to thank Amitha & Dewaki for making us so welcome in their home. The other reviewers prior to ours have also pointed out all the reasons as to why and visit. So rather than repeating all the wonderful accolades which we totally endorse - it was just such a pleasure to experience and meet Amitha & Dewaki who go above and beyond in their desire to provide you with a historical connection to Sri Lanka. The decor and the room facilities are exceptional and compliment the historical nature of the building/home. If its feasible try to go on the walking tour around the local area - and for those who are interested in botany. agriculture , local life - its fascinating to see and experience all the love and attention that has developed the grounds of Eladetta Walauwa. For us the highlight of visiting Kandy was to experience Eladetta Walauwa. So much so that if we return I think we would just stay within the grounds of this accommodation and the local walks accessible from the property. Thank you again Gerard , Maggi and Sorcha
