The church was badly damaged Due to bombing occurred on Easter Sunday, the church was one in a series of targets of a string of suicide bomb blasts across Sri Lanka. At least 93 people were killed in the blast. On 9 June, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the church, and paid tribute to the victims. It has fully been renovated by SLN
