Gunatilake Batiks

My Google Review # 000032. Been here during my stay in Kandy. Batik museum/ Batik factory will be in every traveler's list or tourist agency's proposed schedule. In realty, it is a small workshop located in every part of Kandy, where they use wax and color (and some chemicals, of course) to give a different perspective to cloth making. We spent an hour here to understand the procedures which was shown around to us very patiently, by the lady manager. It was definitely informative on our part. Liked it. The variety of products kept here and pricing is not what I would suggest anyone to go for, without a tough bargain. I personally, didn't pick up anything, but, I am sure the prices are quite steep. The shop is nice, and you get a good introduction to the process of making the color print. The dresses and print painting are all handmade. Be aware of the prices. They are not cheap so make sure you bargain for a good price before they start finalizing the dress or image for you.
