Niketh Villa Kandy

The property is amazing but service is average. No hot water, the omelette during breakfast was cold.

This beautiful Villa is located around 6 kms from the busy and noisy center of Kandy town (taking as point of reference the temple of Tooth Relic). The host Nigel and his wife live there too and this is surely a plus. They are very welcoming and ready to share useful information and tips about Kandy and the sorrounding area. The standard room where we stayed is spacious and very nicely decorated. Like the bathroom. Both a air-conditioner and a ceiling fan can work as allies in your fight against the warm temperatures. There is no TV and no safe but none of these seems actually a real issue, maybe a mini-fridge should be useful. Common spaces/areas are amazing too. In my opinion, this property has a lot of potential, not completely expressed yet (but it is only 4 months they are open). This is my "CONs list": - breakfast is pretty simple (some eggs and a plate of fresh fruit + coffee/tea or juice) and, above all, incredibly pricey (absolutely not worth 15,00 USD per person, neither in Sri Lanka nor anywhere else in the world). - some small details could improve the stay. Personally, I should place in the room an extra bin, a "glass" for toothbrushes, some disposable toiletries, a hairdryer, just to cite a few things - cleanliness is improvable. We found a layer of dust in the wardrobe and fingerprints on mirrors/glass doors.

We planned to stay at this hotel for 2 nights. Unfortunately we did not stay there even an hour. Met us strangely. The hostess immediately wanted to know if we would have dinner at the hotel. For a second, we drove by car, ourselves, 5 hours. The road was not easy (anyone who knows traffic to Sri Lanka will understand) I just wanted to wash and relax. But the hostess didn’t set forth firmly, I need to know, because I need to cook. Ok, you can go to our room and we will inform you in 15-20 minutes. After we were finally taken to the room, it was immediately clear that the room was not clean. A flock of ants was teeming in the shelf of the night table, but this shelf was immediately taken out, taken away and supposedly cleaned. Further, having entered the bathroom, it was evident that the bath had not been washed for a long time. Some stains are not clear spots. The mirror above the sink is all divorced. There is no Internet (ok, for the sake of fairness, we had to carefully read the description, we needed the Internet for work.) It was achieved that there was no net over the bed, which is customary everywhere in Sri Lanka, because mosquitoes are wild. Having asked, or rather asked to install a mosquito net, they answered us, here mosquitoes are not found. Well, as it were, here they are on the wall! No no, they are not here. Are you kidding me ?! In general, we decided not to stay there. The atmosphere is tense and not pleasant. It's a shame that I removed the chain in the room, hung it on the lockers and forgot it there. I noticed this only when we had already driven off km 20. So we were in a hurry to leave from there. And none of the hotel did not inform, did not notify us. Yes, the chain was not valuable. I did not write to the hotel, I decided to watch it as a test of conscience. And I come to the conclusion that either no one checked the room after us. Like we didn’t stay there, the room is “fresh”. Or, the hostess just does not care. Forgot the chain, so forgot. The sediment was not pleasant. If we take into account that we were the only guests that day, then just sadness is sadness.
