This cottage has been built in 1865 by James Taylor, who came down from Scotland at the age of 17. He is believed to be the person to introduce tea plantation to Sri Lanka. From the main road, you can reach the cottage by a vehicle (a high clearance one is preferred, though it is even manageable on a car). You have to park the vehicle and climb up a few steps to reach the cottage. Only a few ruins of the cottage are available now.
Historic place. Nicely maintained, only issue is the road to get there.
Don,t use short vehicles. You have to off-road to top of state nearly 5km. The view is very beautiful. If you are travelling to state I prefer to climb Kondagala also. There are some short cuts through tea plantation for hikers.
Woow nice place
After visiting this place can see how James Taylor enjoyed his life in this bungalow with the beautiful nature. A house surrounded be tea trees on a hill with very fresh air.
A place must visit in kandy
