Very beautiful shrine that thousands of catholics from all over Sri Lanka visit for there spiritual retreat. (ie meditate on the passion of Jesus Christ during the way that he was taken to Mount Calvery to crusify by Jewish.) I was a supervisor there for several years and heard that the wife of the owner of this land saw a blaze of fire on the mountain beyond the Ginganga river when she was reciting holy rosary. Later the whole land on both sides of river givan to the church. The villages says the Rosary placed in a glass box in the church building was belongs to that lady.

I'm a buddhist but this church was complete with silence. The hiking was amazing and we knew lot of things about jesus christ

There is big bridge over the gin river. Dont get permission to enter in to the church. But out side is very beautiful. Feel the beauty of the bridge and the surrounding. Bridge mafe.by steel.
