Could be lovely, but ruined by the owner. The room itself was lovely, although the mattresses are literally as hard as rocks. The grounds are also lovely and the waiting staff are amazing. It's really hard to explain, but what ruined it was the owner, and their the vibe. She struts around acting like cruella de vil and shouting at her staff. We also felt like we were being treated with constant contempt. You end up sneaking around, but she takes candle lit dinners in the entrance lobby, sunbathes when you do, and generally gave the entire place a really toxic vibe. We were provided dinner a few times but were never shown a price list, got hand waved at when asking the price and got shouted at when we brought our own food from outside (much better, and ended up being literally 1/10 the cost!). Whenever we raised a few issues (like our bath didn't have a plug, so we couldn't easily wash our baby) our issues were dismissed. The power also went off for a day, and the water is pumped in, so we couldn't even wash our hands (other places in the area have generators for this regular situation). We visited a few other places in the area that not only had super welcoming owners, but proper menus and really great food. We had so many other issues with this place (e.g. there was a gas canister on the roof leaking gas, the shower pressure is merely a dribble, the "receptionists" treat you with irreverence) but our main issue was how we were made to feel throughout the entire stay. Avoid.
Globally speaking, my stay was so average, the hotel is beautiful, clean, in a very beautiful place. But - and unfortunately there is a but- , food is disgusting, I've never in my life had food like this, especially for a place like marrakech where amazing food is everywhere. The hotel manager insisted of us paying during check-in and of leaving our ID cards while ive never done that in my life even in 5 stars hotel. For breakfast, you have basic stuff and everything else is extra, eggs are Extra, WATER is extra , COFFEE is extra and you can't even drink it. Also, think about bringing your own shampoo and soap because you won't find any in your room.
The perfect getaway from the bustling Marrakesh. Refreshing mountain air & views surround you in this quiet and very comfortable villa. The fire in our room was a cozy touch. Extremely attentive staff. Owner and her daughter made us feel like family. Great food and beautiful grounds. Our best lodging in Morocco.
This was unfortunately the worst stay we have had in years, out of a lot of travelling in numerous countries. Cons:
1. The receptionist girl had a bad attitude. When I asked for a bath plug as there was none in the room, she said it had been ordered but wouldn’t arrive for weeks. She then asked why I couldn’t just take a shower?
2. The whole stay felt more like lodging than a hotel experience. Examples included the owner (Madame) setting up a dinner table in the middle of the reception in the evenings for herself, speaking loudly on the phone on loudspeaker around the pool, and telling off staff for not doing the gardening well enough in front of us. As we were the only guests at the hotel it made the atmosphere very uncomfortable.
3. The mattresses are harder then stone. Kudos to the staff to offer to move us rooms but all the beds were equally hard.
4. The WiFi was patchy and didn’t reach the room or the pool.
5. No lights on the balcony to enjoy the evenings there.
6. The door handles and lock didn’t work on our room (the suite).
7. The shower pressure was awful, and they don’t have emergency pumps. When the electricity was off for about a day, as happens regularly, we had no way of showering or washing our hands and worried about the hygiene in the kitchen. The restaurant next door told us they had an emergency generator for these cases to maintain hygiene.
8. No food is allowed in the room, which is understandable but we didn’t know and is hard to do when travelling with a 7 month old. The receptionist girl approached it very unprofessionally, by telling us she got reprimanded as she hadn’t made it clear to us we couldn’t eat dinner in our room. She then asked us to eat it on the balcony (no lighting) or take it to the communal area (baby sleeping in our bed).
Pros:
1. The Garden was stunning.
2. The maids/chefs and the gardener were extremely lovely and attentive, noting was too much hassle for them, even lighting the fire in our room when we came back late in the evening, giving the review an extra star.
3. When we questioned the price of the food (nowhere to be shown before we asked for the price), they gave us a discount at the end. (Better food available in the neighbouring town, for about a quarter of the price.)
4. They served us food on the balcony when we asked for it.
5. We got a travel cot for our 7 month old for free.
6. The complimentary breakfast was lovely.
We stayed at the hotel late in Feb 2020. Overall we would unfortunately not stay there again.
quiet cosy and comfortable place. Very kind staff. malika was always there when we needed her. One inconvenience though was the parking.
