Very friendly and helpful stuff. The rooftop is nice too. The rooms are spacious but standard.
The owner was very helpfull and protective. The breakfast was delicious. Room was cozy and ok for the Medina standards.
Owner was overly nice to us upon arrival, then after serving us tea, he said that someone was already staying in our room and that we'd have to stay in a smaller room with no a/c and a shared bath. The next day, we were told to switch rooms with a guy that was staying there and to leave our luggage in it before it was even cleaned. Once we did finally get the room we had already paid for, it wasn't a king bed, the shower flooded the bathroom every time it was used and the a/c barely worked.
As the days went by, the owner seemed to get less and less friendly and we had no idea why. I never felt comfortable asking for a refund, nor did I have time to sit and book a new riad, so I sucked it up and stayed the 4 days. I had my credit card company reach out to see if anything could be done and the owner made up a story that I was trying to bring strangers into my room and that they were drunk. That is a complete lie. I wasn't going to post a bad review, but now that he's lying, I felt I had to warn others.
Very welcoming and helpful hosts in a traditional riad offering simple comforts full of warmth and life. In the heart of the old Medina with all its bustling life. Good value for price.
My sister and I stayed for 5 nights. We had a lovely welcome, breakfasts were tasty and filling(lots of bread, honey, butter, apricot jam. Also some days got these flat crumpets or fried eggs with salt and cumin which were delicious!). Hassan, the manager's assistant was wonderful too, such a sweet gentle person who was so accommodating! He didn't speak the best English or French but we managed to get our needs across and he was always happy and willing to help!
That is where the positives end. Abdul (I think) who runs the place started off friendly enough but misled us on the first day at how long it would take to get to the Ouzoud Waterfalls (4hours not 1 1/2)and throughout our stay his attitude got worse and worse and we could not work out what we had done! We also had informed them previously that my sister was vegetarian and were once given a nicoise salad (tuna) and another day spaghetti bolognese!! She did not feel comfortable reminding them and we had large salads and had bought bread in the day so she had enough to eat. The dinners were also not particularly flavourful.
The bathroom was horrendous, they are wet rooms with incredibly poor drainage and flooded in a minute of turning on the water. Luckily it was down a small step from the main room so that did not flood but our room often ended smelling very damp!
The rooms are not in any way soundproof so you can hear when other people take showers and talk on the street outside.
