The best place to ride a camel! It is better to come here at sunset, then the views will be especially beautiful. And if you bargain, you can agree on a good discount.
When in Rome do as the Romans do...oh wait, wrong city. When in Essaouira Morocco, ride a Dromedary on the beach! (also called the Arabian Camel )
My husband and I had a wonderful experience on our second ‘camel’ ride. In October 2016, we rode in the Sahara desert of Morocco with a Berber tribe and camped in the dunes. This time, we arranged an amazing beach and forest tour with Mustafa Mahjoubi of ‘Lima Dromadaire’.
Mustafa is a young local man who has had his business since 2013. He LOVES his dromadaries like we love our own horses back in California! Knowing this simply made our experience even more wonderful.
Mustafa picked us up near the old town medina where we were staying. He was punctual and friendly. Communication was excellent as we planned this tour. He seemed to really want to get to know us and make us feel extra special. His English is very good so you will feel comfortable if you are English speaking as we are.
We spent a little over 4 hours riding the beaches of Essaouira and on into the eucalyptus forest and sand dunes of Diabat. This also took us past the ancient ruins of a Sultans palace! We took a break in the eucalyptus forest where Mustafa and my husband Mike built a fire. We had hot Moroccan mint tea and a big lunch. Mike and I picked eucalyptus leaves for our camels, Timbuktu, Rastafari & Sultan. It was so much fun feeding them snacks.
When in Essaouira, do not hesitate to go with Mustafa. He is the kindest young man. His passion shines through his entire being. And knowing these animals are his very own and a big part of his family is comforting as you know he takes the best of care and loves them dearly!
Great time and as always, more amazing memories were made!
Hartmans Go, See & Do...Essaouira Morocco as Berber Tuareg Tribe members!
Mostafa was extremely friendly and was a wonderful guide. The experience alone is worth your time in Essaouira. The camels were very friendly and well taken care of. The scenery during the 3 hours tour was really beautiful. But the real stunner was having lunch in the middle of the forest with a sumptuous meal made from scratch by Mostafa! His version of Moroccan tea was amazing, and his freshly grilled chicken was so juicy and delicious! What topped off the entire experience was being surrounded by 20 or so goats who suddenly came to graze around us in the middle of our meal (+ the 3 adorable dromadaires obediently sitting down waiting while chewing their own food). Simply a must-do in Essaouira!
Fantastic day riding the dromedaries with the family (including our two girls, age 6 and 10). Mustafa prepared a tasty dinner for us on the bonfire and was generally a super guide - attentive and very friendly. Thank you Mustafa for a great time
Thanks to Ibrahim for having a great time.
