Marojejy National Park

Unique place - stunning views, mountains, watefalls, natural pools and magnificent jungle. Unique endemic animals, insect and plants. Challenging but rewarding hiking opportunity (around 4 days to the peak and back)! Truly amazing national park.

Watch out with leeches! Eventough I am not a hike persona, this site was priceless and really pure. I just came here to say that if you arrange 4x4, ask the driver to drop you off at the very entry point, the latest point car accesible. Believe me, you still gonna have a savage hike to Camp II (take at least 2nd camp). Wasting time and energía on a car accesible, non-interesting road, it is not really worthy. The pisteur for silky sifaka it's worthy, the cook it's worthy, leave them buy the food on their own and if you travel with heavy baggage, I do recommend the porteur.

If you're looking for a true backpacking experience deep into the jungles of Madagascar, this is your park. If you want to stay at a fancy hotel and do an hour nature walk, this isn't your park. Marojejy is filled with nature, untouched rainforest and Madagascar's unique creatures. You can organize a hike into the park at the welcome center and hire a number of guides, cooks and porters as needed to take you to one of the three campsites. My guide, Yuckno, was fantastic and able to spot just about anything I asked for in the park. I ended up staying 4 days and was able to climb to Marojejy Peak, see 5 different species of lemur including the silkys and endless other creatures. This place did not disappoint.

Marojejy was simply awesome. I read the description "primordial rainforest" before going and it was exactly that. I can't believe how soft everything was...the beautiful mosses, liverworts, the huge tree ferns. The Silky Sifakas [simpona] were out of this world. We saw many Bamboo Lemurs [bokombolo], tons of chameleons, just awesome. The guides/cooks/porters were amazing and helpful. Guy was our guide and he knew basically all the plant and wildlife names/characteristics and scientific names. Dolphe was our cook and was amazing. I miss it so much already!
