Parc National Andasibe Mantadia

A great experience where you can see lemurs pretty up close we spent around 5 hours in total and we got to see the indri indri, the golden sifaka, bamboo lemurs. DEFINITELY arrange a night hike with a guide. We got to see the fat tailed dwarf lemur and mouse lemur! We also got to see a chameleon which was cool.

If you are a group of less than 5 people, my recommendation is not to visit this park. You will be as disappointed as we were and regret spending one your days here. Instead visit the Mitsinjo Forest across the street. Andasibe NP is extremely crowded even at mid-season (November), with difficult and uphill paths. This was not a rewarding experience. When we eventually did find an Indri group, there were over 30 people around. With all the noise made by humans, the animals just flee to the top of the trees. The park receives many visitors and needs to be enlarged or open new gates in other areas so that not all people end up taking the same route. No night walks are allowed in the national park. Note that we were informed that 50% of the proceeds go directly to the government, never to be seen again.

Unspoiled natural wilderness is not common enough - as disappearing species will attest - but this park is a treasure. The information in the main building is thoughtful and well presented. The guides are knowledgeable and friendly, and they are eager to help you find the flora and fauna of the park.

Nice park and friendly guides. Somehow it feels kind of like a big "Zoo". Easy access, good Park to see and hear Indris.

It does not worth to visit here if you've already been to Tsingy. You cannot see a lot of Lemurs as mentioned on guide book. A guide did not explain enough. I don't think other guides are different. I can't still understand why tourists should pay too much guide fees on the poor guide service. The reason why I do not give one point is that we saw Indri anyhow.
