La Fourchette

Great pizza! Maybe some of the better that I’ve had here in Madagascar. Great flavor and good choice of cheeses!

Brick oven pizza, french/malagasy dishes and pastries. Right off the RN4 and steps away from bus stop in Ambohidratimo is this super clean and modern eatery. Pizza is crisp and cheesy and we couldnt help but finish it with ease. Coffee was also surprisingly good.

La Fourchette is a small roadside restaurant in Ambohidratrimo. RN4, rums North though this town. This is a nice quaint place and definitely worth stopping by on the way in to Tana or the way out. My experience is with there food is mainly pizza and pastries. The pastries are larger than at other bakeries, and they are made at this place. If you stop in they will warm it up in the pizza oven. There are a number of options for pizza. We have tried the Margharitta and Italian. Both are delicious and use either Mozzarella or Edam cheese. Fresh basil is on the Italian pizza. These pizzas are the European thin crust style, but they are delicious. The pizzas are cooked in the wood-fired oven. It takes about 20 minutes to get the food. We have ordered 4 pizzas and they were finished in 20 minutes. The place is clean and they have friendly staff. No one speakes English, but they do speak French and Malagasy. Or, you can just point at what you want on the menu. I would say this is the best pizza in Madagascar, but its only my opinion. The prices for pastries or around $.65. The pizzas come in one size GM. It will feed two people, and is normally around 15,000 mga, or $5 give or take. 4 pizzas cost $20 and a little more to add drinks. Drinks, like most places, are by the bottle and no free refills. Water needs to be in bottles and they are usually refridgerated.

The best pizzas in Tana! La Fourchette is one of the restaurants where you are guaranteed to be always satisfied! Provided you can eat there ... because the restaurant is very often closed and closes too early too! But the welcome is nice and everything we serve you is always delicious and in large quantities! I recommend!!!
