Shwe Sandaw is not one of the large - and impressive because of its size - pagodas of Myanmar, but it is one of its most charming. The story of how a German Buddhist and his Burmese wife contributed to building this temple also gives it a romantic edge. The interior design of the building relies heavily on the use of colorful mirrors, adding an extra element of quaintness to an already unique setup. Worth the detour.
