Not mentioned in the travel books, this temple is usually overlooked by tourists. Nothing much to see here, but the golden roof is very impressive and the shape is not the usual Burmese style of Buddhist temples. A nice little detour if you are in the vicinity.

Tucked behind some new developments and off the main street is this run-down place. It looks kind of neat from the outside, and the inside is full of niche-filled buddha statues.

Perfect place to watch the sunset on the river. There were some tourists doing the same. Actually I hardly saw the temple.

The temple's name is "Amitahaya Temple". It is located near the market, but it is a temple that is hard to notice for tourists because it does not face the street. It's okay to go sightseeing. An Indian-style main hall is built on the pond. There is a festival of lights around January (Karen New Year?), And there are countless lights in the grounds.
