This temple is dedicated to Buddha and other Chinese celestial, constructed by the Cantonese in the late 19th century. Place is in the heart of Chinatown. Many historical Chinese artifacts there,
19th street is one of the most popular as chinese mall.
A must visit Historical place while u r in Chinatown.
100+ years old Chinese Temple.
I used to pay the humage every chinese new year
Fabulous Cantonese temple dedicated to Kun Yam or Guanyin the goddess of mercy.
Note the hanging gold leaf carvings that add a rarity and reflects Southern Chinese woodcarving skills.
Also the magnificent altar gold leaf altar piece.
There are numerous Chinese character plaques hung on lintels and depict the wealth of donors and well wishers.
The oldest I note come from the middle Qing Dynasty Tongzhi era.
If you can read Burmese or ask your guide there’s a detailed panel that provides the history of the temple inside to the left.
Also don’t miss the Hokkien Fujian Mazu temple further down the street facing the river. Here you can compare the distinct styles of temple architecture and ornamentation between Guangdong and Fujian.
