This place is a dangerous zone for foreigners and tourists because the price of ferry tickets for foreign tourists (4,000 MMK) is so expensive than the local peoples(100 MMK). Moreover, there are a lot of criminals which connived with government officials to deceive the tourists. Please beware of this guy. He is a scammer. He will try to solicit money from you guys.

DALA SCAM BY FAKE STUDENTS. Don't get lured by fake students who want to practice their English and take you on a tour of Dalla. We were basically escorted onto the ferry and to tuk tuk cyclists on the other side of the river, and driven around the town. We were coerced into taking multiple tuk tuks and had to pay for all three (ours and the 'guides') when we returned. We then had to pay a 'tip' even though we were told the trip was free, which was incredibly steep so we didn't pay all of it. We felt scared and threatened and hugely dissapointed with Myanmar. BE WARNED: port officials are in on this scam and take a slice of the profits.

Beware of the ticket scam and local tour guide scam. Never trust any person in this area. No proper tourist place to consult. Don't visit the place across, it's not worth anything, the people and the place will just give you headache. The police can't be trusted either. Please avoid if you are a foreigner.

As opposed to many of the reviews here our experience of the terminal was fine. We were with a local guide and I think that makes all the difference. If you want to see a different side (lieraly) to Yangon then it is worth the effort to go and see Dala. This ferry terminal services the local community and is busy and bustling, but get yourself a good local guide and you can enjoy the convenience of the ferry ride from this terminal.
