Top Tours& Guesthouse Mongolia

The bed was very comfortable and we got the private room even when we booked the dorm. But that’s the only positive thing about it. At first when we arrived, the two reception girls seemed surprised to see us as if we didn’t have a booking. Then when we asked they for help about moving around they didn’t wanted to answer or just said “Oh, I don’t know” without stopping chatting on the phone (the tall one). Then the breakfast is very simple (but at least they offer it).

I stayed at the Top Tour & Guesthouse in both a private room and dorm during my month in Mongolia. Muuggi was a fantastic host and provided me with a whole heap of helpful knowledge about getting around Mongolia. I saw her do this with many tourists and organise what sounds like incredible tours. The accommodation itself is neat, clean and comfortable with the common area being a great way to meet other travellers. When I come back, I'd stay here again for sure.

Top tours guest house is an awesome hostel with friendly helpful staff. The facility is clean and beds are in good condition. Worth every penny!

Was impressed at first by the facilities, the service and the amenities. However, after staying there a while, and wrongly being accused of "ruining" bedsheets (and having to pay) as well as an incident of blackmail where a phone was stolen in a taxi and said taxi driver then let into our hostel room to demand money for safe return of the device, my opinion was swayed to reflect on the stay negatively. There was staff in our room constantly, almost baby sitting us, and being accused of ruining bedsheets because of leaving a white shirt to dry on a top bunk (when the stains were black and red???) and having to pay extra at checkout when the sheets were white and could easily have been bleached you really are getting for what you're paying for. In a pinch I would stay here again but with so many people in and out of the room safety and security were severely lacking. The provided breakfast was a positive but staying at a hostel and not feeling safe, especially when they let a complete stranger into your residence to demand money, it was hard to know if your possessions were safe. In the second room, a uni-sex dorm the bathroom door didn't even close properly, let alone lock. The free wifi was good, but I wouldn't overall recommend this place as somewhere to stay for an extended period of time. A few nights and it's perfect, longer and the staff seemed to grow more impatient and almost rude.
