Bata's Guesthouse

Very good

We stayed 2 nights at Bata's Guesthouse in a room for only us 2. The room was really cheap, clean and very cosy! We were with Ms. Bata only who did everything perfect for us. I would definitely recommend!

We arrived to the guesthouse looking for a hot shower, we called the guy and he said that they have one. Only the day we left we came to pay the bill he reminded to tell us that every shower costs 3000 tugri (which is not that much but it’s annoying that he says the room costs 15000 with breakfast and showers and then reminds to say that the shower costs money.) Except that the stay was ok.

To my fellow backpackers and all other travelers. Bata's Guesthouse is the place to avoid while you are in beautiful Mongolia. Mr. Bata has the ability to destroy the wonderful image of the Mongolian people. He scammed us sneakily, having been on the road for as long as I have, I am laughing at myself for having fallen for such cunning. He completely ripped us off for our 5day trip to the wonderful Tsaatan people. He gave us false information regarding accommodation, national park entrance fee, bridge crossings and the Shaman ceremony. Having said that we do have to mention that our English speaking guide Geerle and our driver Bor were amazing, they were kind, flexible and great company, Geerle never missed to surprise us with her cooking talents and Bor was a blast to be around. We had a few minor issues due to the bad weather conditions on our trip, they could have been solved easily by Mr. Bata but instead he chose to avoid us. When we reached Bata Guesthouse upon our return, we were told he isn't there, however we have seen the curtains being pulled when we entered the guesthouse and his car was standing in the porch white Toyota 13 88. Having had an unforgettable experience with the wonderful people of the Tsaatan tribe, we nevertheless left Murun with a bitter after-taste. All I want to say here Mr. Bata, Karma works in mysterious ways. And to all beautiful travelers who visit this wonderful country, stay as far away from Bata's Guesthouse and its representatives as possible, there are many other amazing people in Murun who offer the same experience without being greedy and malicious, check out Lonely Planet and TripAdvisor for more details. Let us not be influenced negatively and let us not create prejudice by an individual like Mr. Bata.
