A wonderful site in Mongolia with numerous standing stones and approx. 500 graves from the Scythian age and earlier have been identified by researchers. The site is is guarded by a Mongolian volunteer during the summer period.

The Deer Stones were preserved well and the area was clean. There is a placard in English under each Stone explaining the engravings. You are given a brochure in English with more information regarding the significance of the stones. You can easily see the stones and the burial sites in an hour while taking photos. The stones are enclosed by a wire fence.

One should visit this place before the best deerstone falls off...

It is a set of monoliths with bas-relief carving of animals, predominantly deer. The most representative is of the Chaman. It is not a monolithic set that at first attracts attention. It seems quite simple and basic to the naked eye. But once you are in it, by the placement of the different stony elements, more or less circular and the evocative of the place, inhospitable, set apart, reminds a lot of Stonehenge in England. It would be interesting to know if there is a deeper study about the distribution, orientation and geometry of this place and its relation to the positions of the stars, as well as the lunar phases and the sun. Apart, of course, from the symbolism of the reliefs. At the entrance there are some Hers where you buy the entrance and a small stand with souvenirs. The Uushigiin complex is not very big, but it is a must. Especially for lovers of ancient constructions and anthropology.
