My primary reason to visit the site was to see the Pyramid of the Sun, but certainly don’t sleep on the Pyramid of the Moon! You can’t currently climb the pyramids because of the pandemic, but you can still get a great idea of their scale (along with some great pictures). I only took off my mask for pictures, but there weren’t too many police around enforcing the rules.

Went on the 2nd day of their reopening a couple of weeks ago. While they don’t allow anyone to climb during the pandemic, it was still incredible to be able to see the ruins. Hire a guide to see Teotihuacán! It’s so worth it!! Tip: wear a hat and sunscreen. I ignored my guide thinking I would be ok on a mild, cloudy day with just sunscreen on my face. Wrong. I came back burned on my nose, back and head. Tip: bring lots of snacks and water if you don’t want junk food snacks they sell there. Even though we couldn’t climb any ruins, we still took 4.5 hours to walk and enjoy the entire grounds.

The early history of Teotihuacan is quite mysterious and the origin of its founders is uncertain. Truly a wonder of the world. Sacred stone landmark and sacrificial site.

Truly one of a kind experience that everyone must do while in the area. It is only about an hour drive from Mexico City proper and less than $100 Uber. Get there early to avoid lines and heat. Also buy water on way in because there is nothing inside.
