Mayacala

Villa Maya Cala is beautiful! We loved staying there. It is right in the jungle on a lovely lake. It is incredibly peaceful and quiet and even though there were ten of us there it was very private because of the way the accomodation is set up. The wifi worked well too! There were all kinds of beautiful birds and we even saw some monkeys one morning in the trees beside the house. We will go back for sure.

The house is nicely located in a very peaceful area with a great view on the lagoon. Rooms and beds are organized in a way that it is difficult to have privacy. Outdoor terrace is not suitable for young children (risk of falling). Air con not present in all rooms and an extra 5USD/night is charged for each air con unit. Overall relatively low value for the money comparing to other accommodations in the neighborhood. The concierge Bernard was extremely friendly and caring. Very surprisingly, during our stay there were construction works ongoing in the house with jack hammers starting at 8am. We were not informed about these works upfront by the owner, who said we should ask the workers ourselves to make less noise... In my opinion this shows a clear lack of honesty and of willingness to please clients. We will unfortunately not go back.
