Casa Balam Hostel

If you're looking for a niche quiet get away in a historic seaside mexican town then Casa Balam is for you. Walter & Natasha greet you very warmly into their place with a very "mi casa es tu casa" vibe. You have the option to sleep in one of 4 hammocks inside or pitch or borrow a tent outside. Walter will cook a fresh fish either asado (over the fire) or frita (fried) take a look at my picture of the huge fish he cooked up for us. Walter is a biologist and is very enthusiastic about the local nature reserve and will take you on a tour on his boat/paddle-board/ kayak to show you some of his work & go croc hunting. His place is cosy and is in my idea the perfect stop for backpackers. If I'm ever again in the area I will be visiting again. Thank you for the hospitality!

It is a great place to spend the night, either in the hammocks or the camping area, you can have a few chelas, take a bath, eat something, the people are super friendly and offer tours or you can see what to do on the maps they have glued.
