Rio y Mar Apartments & Suites Chelem, Yucatan, Mexico

We enjoyed staying at this updated and clean apartment complex, restaurant and pool just one block from the ocean. The food was amazing, seafood was the best! We enjoyed live entertainment and crafts while there. The owners helped us make transportation arrangements for excursions and their recommendations did not disappoint. We definitely will plan a return trip.

My home full time

I have stayed here 4 times over the last 3 years for extended stays and would recommend it to family and friends. Jill and Martin are spectacular hosts. You will arrive as a guest and leave as their friend. They have several units for rent and during my visits, I have stayed in all of them but one. They are all clean and well stocked for the short visit or the long term stay. Everything is in working order and if a repair is needed it is made immediately.The apartments seem like a home away from home. The apartments are gated and there are common areas (the patio and pool) shared by the other residents. The common areas are kept clean at all times. The patio and pool area are a wonderful place to relax. They also own the attached restaurant, The Bull Pen, and it's a great place to eat, drink and listen to live music. The location of the apartments is perfect. You can walk to the laundria, several little markets and other businesses. If you are going further there are plenty of transportation opportunities near by. The local bus stop is a few minutes walk and you can be in Progreso, MX in 15 minutes. Or visit Chuburna in less than that. The entire village of Chelem is very safe and almost everyone knows Jill and Martin. The apartment is quite literally less than a 3 minute walk from the ocean. As your hosts, Jill and Martin are always available to answer questions you have about the area or anything you might need during your stay.
