The temple and Convent of the Holy Cross, of Santiago de Querétaro, built in the 17th century has a great importance in the history of Mexico. In this place the evangelization of the Mexican natives begins, here they prepared the Franciscans for their missions throughout the country In 1683 the Fide Propagation Missionaries College was installed there. One of the most important friar who formed in the convent was San Junipero Serra. It was the headquarters of Maximilian of Habsburg in 1867.
