My family stayed here for 4 nights in September 2016 and absolutely LOVED it! This house has 4 separate bedrooms, and I believe that the owner rents out each one individually if you like, but since there were 11 of us we rented out the entire house. As such, each room has its own bathroom complete with shower, which was much appreciated. This house is located in the small town of Uayma, Yucatan, and is a few minutes drive outside of Valladolid. It is very much off the beaten path, which is what attracted us to it. If you want to stay at this house you should probably speak Spanish relatively well, or at least have someone I'm your party that does. Uayma is wonderful, and to quote my dad "The Mayans are such a loving, giving, peaceful people." Whenever people ask if we felt safe he always responds that he felt safer there than back home in Utah in the United States. We were lucky enough to be there during the Mexican Independence Day celebration, which was incredible fun! The house has full amenities: Air conditioning, full kitchen, clothes washer (although no dryer, you will need to air dry), satellite TV and WiFi, hair dryers, spacious living room, pool table, kids toys, and even a high chair for the little ones. We also requested playpen because we had a one year old in our party, and the owner was kind enough to buy one just for us! The house has various snacks and beverages available for you to purchase, with prices listed. You just need to leave money in the small wooden box in the kitchen. Honestly though it'd easier and cheaper to walk one of several small convenience stores that are close by. For drinking water they have a dispenser that holds large 5 gallon jugs of purified water. When they run out you just take the empty junk and exchange it for a new one next door, it only like 20 pesos which is very cheap. We just used that to refill smaller bottles that we had saved, and then we'd store them in the fridge. For grocery shopping there are several super markets in Valladolid; we went to Super Che. The roof of the house has a patio with a wonderful view of the surrounding area. It even has its own kitchen so that you can prepare meals up there and enjoy the ambiance. There is a bathroom up there as well, but I don't think it had been cleaned recently. Honestly it didn't matter to us because we didn't spend much time up there. There is also a walled in back yard with a lawn. You can set up a net for badminton, and there are also clothes lines for hanging your washed clothes out to dry. Just be careful though, because during the summer it's monsoon season and it usually rains every afternoon without fail, so your drying clothes could get caught out in the rain like ours did. To reserve the house you contact the owner through email. I found it through VRBO but I also saw it listed on other similar vacation sites. The owner lives in Germany and sometimes communicates herself, or has an employee answer questions for her. Her sister also lives close by in Valladolid. They let us reserve the house without any kind of down-payment. You can pay them in cash when arrive or they also have a PayPal account, which is what we used. When you arrive they have someone in Uayma who works for them names Yessi. They had given us her phone number and we texted her to let her know when we would be arriving. She greeted us and opened the house and explained how everything worked. It should be noted that since Yessi is a local she mostly speaks Spanish. She is very friendly though and was able help out throughout the week with any questions we had. Overall this house was one of the highlights of our trip! Everyone we talk to is jealous that we stayed in such a beautiful place and can't believe that we found such a paradise. We will definitely be staying here again!
