The Parroquia de Santa Catarina Mártir is the temple I go to regularly when I attend mass. I also go when I do photography or video work at weddings, baptisms or fifteen years. The temple is one of the oldest in the Monterrey metropolitan area along with the churches of San Juan Bautista de García and San Juan Bautista de Cadereyta. Data from historians affirm that the first chapel was erected in 1965 and the current temple was built in 1810 and to date it has undergone repairs and modifications even in its facade. Something interesting is that President Benito Juárez spent the night in 1864 one night in the Cural House of the temple at the time when he was touring the republic with the documents of the Nation. In this regard, there is a bust of the Benemérito de las Américas and the municipal authority remembers the Oaxacan President every March 21 with a ceremony alluding to his birth in that same place. Since the 19th century a devotion has been given to the Virgin of San Juan de los Lagos and inside there is also Santa Catarina Mártir, an altarpiece with the Virgin of San Juan de los Lagos to whom they pay devotion due to miracles that are attributed to him for the benefit of residents of the area. Even in August, festivals, fairs and fireworks are held in honor of the Virgin. At some time the orchestra led by Don Fidel Ayala, a famous watchmaker of the municipality and the members came to serenade the Virgin every 15 August. The Temple founded by Franciscan monks is located at 100 Miguel Hidalgo Street, and Manuel Ordóñez Avenue in the center of Santa Catarina, next to the main square.

For baptism they accept people who are not married by church, they only ask you to attend a talk. They are very kind and agree to go to give the anointing of the sick without a fee, whatever you like or can contribute to the father who is going to come to your home.
