Having made several experiences with exaggerated or fake reviews of accommodation on my favorite booking platform, I prefer looking at the places personally before booking (still via the platform for security reasons) whenever I can. I found an availability at Huitzical for tonight with the check-in time indicated as 3pm to midnight. So I visited around 8pm. The presumably European (?) gentleman in charge only spoke to us across the fence (honestly? is that your sense of hospitality?) and informed us he would not be receiving us without reservation and started walking away. So I mention with one click on the booking website Of have a reservation, he told me not to book as he doesn't like short notice bookings. I could have forced the stay by just confirming the booking electronically but decided a person that rude would likely make our stay miserable. Sir, the hospitality industry doesn't seem to be your cup of tea. If you cannot handle guests at 8pm then don't advertise it. And at least have the courtesy to finalize the conversation - maybe with a recommendation on alternatives.

We came to Tulum to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site Sian Ka'an and the tentative “Ring of Cenotes of the Chicxulub Crater” and some its most beautiful associated Mayan temples, Coba and Coba’s port temple Tulum. During our journey through Mexico we visited 15 of the 35 sites that Mexico has. We split our visit between the town and the beach, spending a few days in each, and Huitzical was our beautiful base in Tulum town. We arrived in town by the ADO bus from Playa del Carmen. Huitzical is surrounded by jungle vegetation and the whole ground is a beautiful and lush garden, and it even has a small pool! ! Our upstairs room was fantastic! The windows on two sides made it very bright and the modern and very chic decor really stood out. We slept like babies in the very comfortable and big bed. One of the stand out things with our stay was the breakfast, we promise it will keep you full for a long time. At Huitzical we enjoyed chilling by the pool and tanning on the rooftop terrace. Tulum town is very bicycle friendly and the free bikes they provide were super useful to explore it properly. We got a lot of great advice from the staff on where to go and what to see as well. Everyone working here was very helpful and friendly. From Tulum town we could easily take the bus to Coba and directly from Huitzical you can take an early morning taxi to the Tulum ruins. From here you can also visit Sian Ka'an. Thank you all at Huitzical for your amazing hospitality. We really enjoyed our stay and can safely recommend Huitzical to everyone wanting to stay in Tulum town.

Really nice place to stay in Tulum City. Rooms are quite big, breakfast is awesome! Just take the bike and get to the city centre in a couple of minutes. Really friendly staff and management. Pool area and the green garden is really cool!!!
