La Zebra Hotel Tulum

Fun, vibrant and joyful La Zebra is an outstanding hotel, restaurant and beach club !!! Location is amazing! The beach is perfect for an excellent Caribbean vacation. Enjoy happy hour session. Delicious and flavorful margaritas!!! Food is out of this world: mouthwatering fish/shrimp tacos and ceviche. Genuine Mexican cuisine. Excellent service, so nice people and great staff. I’ll come back every time I’m in Tulum.

We split our time in Tulum and stood at various places. This hotel was my absolute favorite. They greeted us with Margaritas at check in which was quick and also a complimentary bottle of Mezcal. Parking is right across the hotel. The location of this hotel is exactly where you want to be. Close to food trucks, all restaurants and most importantly right on the beach!! The rooms are BEAUTIFULLY decorated. The top roof where the Pool is located has hammocks. Swings on the beach, a little jungle gym. The drinks & food were great, I enjoyed them very much. They also have a happy hour menu. Great music, good vibes, very relaxing spot, no noise. I wish I would have stayed here the longest, now we know for next time.

Location and beach is beautiful, but the hospitality leaves a lot to be desired , front desk isn’t very attentive to requests we had called late asking for them to send us a cab to take us back to the hotel and they basically said they couldn’t do it and didn’t care. I found that to be very rude and inconsiderate that they weren’t concerned with paying guests safety or well being. As we are paying for the most expensive room, the penthouse, I expect to be treated as such. Beach staff claimed only certain breakfast dishes could be served on the beach after we had those same dishes the day before. I would not stay here again for that reason. Would not recommend to anyone. Took a tour of alaya hotel next door and the 5 minutes I spent there I felt better treated than my own hotel. The concept of hospitality at la zebra is nonexistent. Security hovers around cabanas and makes you feel like you’re being watched or doing something wrong when you aren’t. The final issue came at check out when they tried to add alcohol charges to our room charge bill. We specifically ordered mixers and juices as we had our own alcohol in the room and the managers kept arguing with us about it , but eventually took it off. Was very fed up with my experience here as la zebra has a really good reputation and was recommended by a lot of people to us as “must attend”, which is definitely not the case. The entire staff need to take a course in hospitality.

Great hotel. They really respect COVID and all the workers wear masks and are very friendly. The food is 10/10. They’ll cater to any allergies and special requests, which is nice and a bit more rare in the area. The hotel rooms are very clean & comfortable. Overall, it’s priced a bit less than the other hotels in the area but I’d argue that it delivers better value (regardless of price)

This place is one of the best if not the best hotels in the nearby area. We were treated very well and the service is exceptional. Santos was our beach server and he was the best. The rooms are better in person than what we expected. The outside area is clean and well groomed. Can't go wrong with La Zebra. We'll be visiting again.
