Iglesia De La Virgen De Talpa

Center of national provincial faith and surrounded by mountains, very beautiful place which is worth visiting

I was almost 10 years ago and it was the most beautiful experience to be able to go to see the Virgin of Talpa at her church. Everything is very beautiful in Talpa de Allende, Jalisco and I recommend that if they have the opportunity to go they go. I will not regret it.

Basilica of Our Lady of Talpa the Sanctuary of the Virgen del Rosario, dates from 1782, in front is a rectangular atrium with three entrances that have similar covers in gray stone; they consist of a semicircular arch decorated with reliefs of plant motifs; Flanking each arch, pairs of fluted columns of half sample and compound capital, which support the entablature with vase tops. The temple boasts its façade all in quarry, with a two-body cover and an auction. The first body shows a semicircular arch with a soffit encaseted on planked jambs, flanked by pairs of attached Solomonic columns, with capitals with reliefs of birds and angels; in the spaces between columns there are niches with sculptures on a pedestal, and above, scallops. In the second body, there is a rectangular coral window with stained glass, flanked by niches with scallop, sculpture and base; On the outer side of the niches, there are pairs of Solomonic columns attached and in the middle of them escutcheons. The auction shows the center, a niche with a sculpture of the Virgin of Talpa, surrounded by curtains and flanked by small columns; at the ends, vases on the axes of the columns and a clock face flanked by Solomonic columns. The towers are of two bodies with semicircular arch spans, flanked by pairs of attached columns of Ionic capital; the tops are pyramidal, covered with tile.
