Maya Tulum Retreat & Spa

This review is solely for the restaurant and beach club experience. We happened upon this beach due to the recommendation of a local & it was the best decision we made while in Tulum! The beach front is beautiful, like a slice of undisturbed paradise. There were hardly any guests utilizing the beach on either day which allowed for a peaceful and safe experience. The restaurant staff was cordial and prompt. We ordered fresh coconuts, the guacamole, mango salad, and a chicken burrito. Everything was delicious! While the food was certainly expensive for Mexico, it was significantly cheaper than most beach clubs in the area. Our experience was so wonderful that we came back two days in a row.

This is the hidden gem of Tulum. It is truly something special with the most amazing staff, facilities, and location. The restaurant and food is amazing as well- some of the best cuisine in Tulum! What makes this place worth staying at is that it is truly unique and unlike anything in the area. It is amazing- from the thatched roof cabanas on the beach (with no TVs but you do not even notice- the ocean front views are enough) to the pristine beach itself. This is not your typical resort, blaring loud music while a bunch of guests drink and party. This is a quiet and relaxing place- but they also have a great happy hour with a friendly pour 😉 or it is a quick & easy walk on the sand to one of the nearby beach clubs. The spa- if you want a life altering experience, ask for Lorena and her specialty- although all are amazing. What would easily cost $300 plus up the beach- is done much cheaper and at much higher quality here in a private spa casita. The staff- are the most amazing. Willing to schedule you any expedition or book you transportation to any of their restaurant recommendations. They remember your face and room number for all charges. Don’t sleep on this location. Book it, enjoy it, experience it!

Absolutely amazing experience. This hotel is right in the middle of the hotel zone in Tulum yet it is so quiet there. The cabanas are beautiful, it’s 10 seconds walk right to their private beach. Food was delicious and the staff was super friendly and helpful. We will be back!

The place is alright, it’s a good but pretty expensive middle of the line hotel. It’s got AC and it’s right off the beach.

Around 2pm I was physically threatened by their shuttle driver/ General Manager José L Martinez and first harassed by their parking lot attendant. I am staying at the beautiful Ana y Jose hotel down the street. Today I made the unfortunate mistake of pausing in front of this hotel and was harassed and threatened by two of its workers - a parking lot attendant and the shuttle driver. I was having trouble with my reception and my directions weren't functioning properly so I temporarily pulled into their parking lot to reset. Immediately I was told to get out, that I was on private property. In Spanish, I explained that I had been driving when I lost service and had pulled over to reset my directions. He told me to get out. So I did and parked on the side of the road outside the lot. However, then the bus driver boxed me in with his bus so I couldn't drive forward out of their way, instead I had to pull into the other side of traffic and block a lane of traffic while I fixed my phone - at the same time the attendant stood behind my car so I couldn't reverse. They were playing games trying to intimidate me and start an altercation. Then the shuttle driver came to my car door and tried to open it and.... what? Why would a strange angry man try to open my car door while the car was still running. What was he planning on doing if I hadn't locked the door immediately? Disgusting behavior.
