My father was admitted with pneumonia during this pandemic. After you are not able to talk to them but would have to come everyday at 12pm to wait for a nurse to call out your loved ones name. From there you go in another line and wait your turn to speak with a nurse or doctor about your loved ones condition (wait time around 2 to 3 hours). I recommend recording the conversation (me being overwhelmed and discombobulated, I found myself blanking out) so best review later and just worry about all the questions like how are they advancing, meds under etc. Later they changed everything to no longer having to come in in person(and wait 2 to 3 hours) that they would now call everyone after 10am to update on their loved ones condition. During this time I saw other family bringing in stuff....so I was able to bring him baby wipes small bottle of shampoo, tooth brush, toothpaste, socks, beanie, and later allowed to bring sandals. Ask the social worker what is allowed Make sure to bring in a plastic bag (ex. gallon zip lock bags) with name and bed number. I heard you can talk to the social worker to try and be able to talk to your loved one over the phone. As of now although mentally we are worried and overwhelmed I have found that everyone here has been incredibly compassionate and doing a great job in the level of empathy and care provided. I was overwhelmed the first few days but after speaking to the nurses and doctor I was able to feel more at ease. I had a moment where I was a very overwhelmed and not composed and I apologized in the midst of my anxiety... The nurse calmly replied with it's okay love Im not going anywhere take your time im here to help with all your questions ". May god be with all the patients and staff and bless them all with a safe recovery/return home to their loved ones.
Terrible place. What do they think you get covid via telephone
Pray that you never have to come to this facility. The nurses and doctors will hardly pay attention to you, even if you are suffering from extreme pain. The guards will not allow you to bring anything to a patient; food, blankets, electronics, nor a non-white pillow. There is a cafeteria inside of the hospital that sells all kinds of food and drinks but even that you are not allowed to purchase and bring to any patients staying in the facility.
Hopefully you have private insurance and can go to a private hospital, or if you are a foreigner, hopefully you have some traveler's insurance.
Really busy place
