A great transformational sanctuary. The ashram is a very peaceful sanctuary. The ashtanga tradition is upheld and taught with so much care by coco. The plant medicine ceremonies performed by Pamela and Ivan are beautiful and cosmic. I truly had a life changing experience here. The food the place, the practice and journey has been amazing. Would always always recommend!!!
I did the 200hrs TTC here and it was truly a wonderful and transforming experience. Coco is the best yoga teacher you could wish for. She is very experienced, passionate and caring. Her ashram is a magical place where you can find inner peace and meet wonderful people. I found a family apart from home. Thank you for everything! 🙏🏼
This place is beyond my wildest imagination. I have traveled the world, trained with a lot of teachers and done a previous ashtanga TTC in India, but what Coco and her team has managed to create here is pure magic. There is an abubdance of love and personality in all the details of this ashram. Everyday we would wake up to the shala filled with candles and incense. We'd get deep adjustments from Coco and her team (special thanks to Josh) during our mysore practice, unbelievable fresh and yummy vegan food, music and transformational ceremonies.
Coco is a very knowledgeable teacher and her way of building up the training will give you everything you need to perfection your personal practice, but also your confidence as a teacher. My previous TTC in India seems like a kindergarten compared to my experience here. Because Coco is acting from her heart she allowes all her students to open up, be vounerable and create community. We all felt like a family from the get go and it provided space for so much healing to be done. Words become poor when I try to express my gratitude to Coco, her team and all my fellow brothers and sisters in the TTC. You will not regret booking your teacher training or retreat here.
AHO
Beware of this place!!! They will charge you a cheaper price than many other resorts and then they will start telling you that you have bad energy and need Reika massage or Biomagnetism massage. They charge you $65 for this massage while in the center of Puerto Moreles it is only $30 for the same massages, search it that's only 10 minutes away. They feed you cheap food like a smoothie for breakfast which costs $2 in any local store and then charge you $100 for a yoga retreat which is located in the middle of the forest Really ???? I can stay at a beautiful waterfront property for $60 a night in Mexico, what does this place offer ? you want a yoga class, I took one for $4 in an amazing studio. What does this place offer that others don't, NOTHING ! If you want to waste your money, this is the place to be, enjoy !
On the website, the ytt is advertised as having “plant medicines, super food smoothies” and the accommodation is listed in the photos as a nice casita in the jungle.
the accommodation was actually at a rundown apartment complex ten minutes away, which I wasn’t made aware of until the day of the course.
There was only one key to share between two people which was inconvenient. The rooms smelled like mold and we were told we are not allowed to use the AC, which would have helped to dry things out. there’s also no laundry, so after sweating everyday you are responsible for your own laundry, and trash. No housekeepers, no trash bags and minimal cleaning supplies at the apartment. So on top of paying for accommodation you have to pay for some supplies too. There was a water jug, but of course that was empty as well. just another inconvenient thing to organize after you have had a super long day and would just like to relax.
Smoothies were just fruit, not superfood. so expect to be hungry after breakfast and a full workout and need to buy some more to eat.
Plant medicines were all at an extra cost, even though by reading the website you would definitely conclude that they are included.
price was raised from 2400 to 2600 at the last minute.
I was told the number of participants would not exceed 11, but there were quite a few more than that, I think 20?
I ask for a partial refund because I decide after two days it is not for me- they won’t return anything claiming all of my $730 deposit has been spent already on things for me. the room in the apartment I had was probably worth $300usd max, I know the prices in Mexico as I’ve lived around this country for many months over the years and puerto morelos is relatively cheap for this area. the apartment complex definitely seemed cheap and was located far back, somewhat in the outskirts of the village. So, another cost if you wish to take a taxi to the beach, as there wasn’t really enough time in the day to walk there.
any other yoga training would have had a contract to sign explaining a refund policy. it is interesting that coco feels entitled to keeping all the deposit. there was not even an introductory e-mail sent out detailing the course, with extra costs included. There was nothing like this.
when i am going to pay, altogether, around $3000 for a course, I will have a few expectations, and it would be naive not to. especially as we are all in a more difficult time financially during this covid situation.
Coco is a good teacher with a big heart and a lot of experience, but this one simply wasn’t for me. I did both the moon course in San Marcos Guatemala and a thirty day yoga retreat at hridaya in Oaxaca, and both were amazing at a lower price. maybe the issue was that I had no passion to become a yoga teacher. Either way, I wish I could get a couple hundred dollars back, as that is almost a month of living expenses in Mexico. this course is good for people new to the spiritual/healing process and for people from out of the country with a full-time job to return to; it is not really accessible to locals- but that’s how these things usually are for some strange reason.
gracias
