I share a bit of your story: The evangelization in 1538 corresponded to the illustrious Fray Antonio de Roa, who gathered Chichimeca, Otomi and Mexican peoples in towns; since with his wisdom, intelligence and sacrifice he was able to consolidate in the mountains. With approximate data it is estimated that the first temple in Chapulhuacán was built between 1540 and 1542, attended by the fathers of the convent of Xilitla, San Luis Potosí, until in 1557 Fray Alonso de la Vera Cruz was elected provincial. In the book "Catalog of religious constructions of the state of Hidalgo" is said quote that gives reason to what happened in Chapulhuacán during those years: "this is the most laborious house that the province has, because it is rough, cloudy and diverted from the human commerce ", in text written by Grijalva. The temple was administered some time later by Fray Juan de la Peña, until 1558 when it was attacked, defending its construction. After this, very few data are found that give us a report on the current parish of San Pedro Apóstol. It is estimated that from the seventeenth century the Franciscans resumed their evangelizing mission in that area of ​​our province, settling in Chapulhuacán. The temple, as a fixed vicarage, was subordinated to the forays of Jacala until November 24, 1922, when the bishopric of Huejutla was constituted. Currently, the parish of San Pedro Apóstol has as its pastor Pbro. Alberto Cabrera Ramírez and celebrates his patronal feast on June 29. (Monter, 2013)
