El mercado is a place where you can find anything on your mind for a very cheap price. Located inside downtown Merida is pretty safe. Take some comfy walking shoes

It's a good place if you want to find good offers for vegetables, fruits and some other stuff. However, is not the cleanest place and finding the good offers takes a little of comparison and sometimes long walks. Afterall my rating is 3 stars because despite of some details you will always find what you need with some time.
