Veladero de los Otates is a town located in the northern part of the municipality of Manzanillo, Colima. Which borders the state of Jalisco and its dividing line is the Marabasco River or better known by its inhabitants as Río del Mojo named for the large amounts of wet that were thrown into the river in the 50s and 60s due to the exploitation of the Peña Colorada mine in Minatitlán. Veladero de los Otates, a community dedicated mainly to seasonal corn cultivation and cattle ranching, has a population of no more than 400 inhabitants.
