We just returned from a fantastic time at Hacienda Sac Chich with our Covid bubble of 6 family members. This was not our first visit but as Covid altered our lives these many months we often reminisced about how we had once felt so relaxed and the possibility of feeling safe and sequestered from the world there. We made the decision to return! The trip down was easy and quick and we took all the precautions for travel. Hacienda Sac Chich is looking more wonderful every time we visit. The bamboo, towering palms, the gardens, architecture and once again those early evening fireflies were mesmerizing during our late sunset strolls. I think some exotic birds have also decided that Sac Chich is the place to be! Merida and the surrounding area seem to be taking the virus very seriously and there are no people without masks on (even in cars!?) and we were able to go to a cenote, a ruin and also one afternoon had a lovely meal at Tatamar in the city. The staff and management, Jillian and Javier, took all the precautions to assure our safety and there was the added bonus of Cyndy and Howard, the owners being there seeking the same as us! We will once again return sometime in the future! How wonderful to feel whole again -Sac Chich does that to you!

This review is long overdue. My husband and I got married here last year and it truly is a unique and beautiful place to get married but there were so many hiccups that made our experience overall a little off-putting. I only voice these concerns so that future brides are aware of what they may get with vendors that are recommended. First off, we were very concerned when we found out that Lisa the manager was not going to be on the property. We had communicated with her up until a few days before the wedding and we weren't informed that she was gone from the property until our driver told us on the way to the hacienda. This was concerning to us because we had planned our wedding with her for 8 months and we were worried that things wouldn’t go smoothly without her on site. Two of our guests have MS and have trouble walking. There are many hidden step ups/downs on property and two of them ended up falling down. Cyndy the owner replied to us when we told her they had fallen with "You must have a tripping group." Not only is that unprofessional but also a little offensive given the ones who tripped have actual walking problems. Fast forward to the wedding, there were so many things that went wrong. It was extremely disappointing that this was the case as we put a lot of trust and confidence into the venue and the vendors provided from Lisa. Joe (the wedding day coordinator) was recommended to us from Lisa, we had many problems with scheduling and the flow of our ceremony and reception on the wedding day. There were so many little but necessary things missed that honestly made our day stressful: Joe did not email a wedding day schedule to our wedding photographer until 1 day before the wedding. Luckily my photographer is my friend and we made a schedule together a few days before. If this were not the case, I would not have had a proper and well prepared schedule for one of the key people that day. Joe brought her kids with her to the walk through of our ceremony rehearsal. It was very distracting and unprofessional and I didn’t feel like we had her full attention. I requested to have the hacienda curtains shut for my walk down the aisle so my husbands first look of me would be face to face when I walk down the aisle. Joe and I discussed this months before the wedding and I also reminded her day of. The first thing I saw when I walked out were the curtains wide open with a clear view of me from the alter. We went over the playlist with Joe weeks before and also the day of the wedding. My husband's walkout song was wrong so the music did not flow well since it had to be changed mid walk when the ceremony started. Our music also got cut off and the playlist we requested was not played in time so we had to skip the songs we prepared. Our table was not set up as we wanted. We never asked for bright blue placemats. One of the cooks put them down on the table. We spent months trying to figure out the decor we wanted for the reception to match our floral and bright blue was never ever ever requested by us. It completely threw off the entire vision that we had. Joe brought her own wedding photographer out of contract and he got in the way of ours. Our photographer told him not to shoot during the wedding ceremony and he did anyway. We were ok with a few photos and figured that she would have him take pics of the set up but I didn’t expect him to take up my time before the ceremony to take portraits of me. This is completely wrong and we never agreed to this. The flow and direction of our day was all over the place and extremely stressful. It seemed like no one knew what was going on except for Nathan and I. We spent 9 months of planning and it seemed like our wants and needs went completely unheard. The wedding coordinator had one day of work to nail what we wanted and it turned out terrible. This was a 12 person wedding and it should not have been that difficult to handle.

Howie and Cyndy have transformed this place into one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. We booked Hacienda Sac Chich as our wedding venue without ever visiting because we just knew it was the perfect place to get married. Pictures, videos and words do not suffice when trying to capture the beauty of this Hacienda. ICommunication was easy and prompt in the year leading up to our wedding. Cyndy was available to answer every question I had no matter how trivial. I also appreciated the list of local vendors that made planning uncomplicated. f you're considering this venue for anything - photo shoot, family vacation, party, dream wedding - you will not be disappointed.
