There are two different prices the driver charge (cheaper) local/employee and tourist. But actually every distance has fixed price for all. I paid 40pesos from playa to akumal and the local paid 30-35pesos next stop. Also I saw the driver gave less change than local to Foreign couple when they drop off. Because I sat down next to the driver and I saw it how much people pay and get change. When I came back From tulum to playa del carmen. At the last station, the spanish speaker asked him how much in spanish. And he mumbled like 40pesos because I was in next him and the one of drivers in bus stop told me 46pesos from tulum to playa when I asked them. This is my guessing of price list in Jan. 2018 From playa to xelha/akumal/monkey sanctuary - 30-35pesos. From akumal to tulum -30 pesos. From tulum to akumal - 30pesos. From tulum to after akumal -35pesos. From tulum to benito juares ave in centro -40pesos. Try to pay with the exact change don't pay with big bills. If not always have small change in hand and exit as fast as possible once finished paying so people can get to their destination on time.

Safe and cheap way to get around the Riviera Maya. Avoids the big hotels taxi scams. 25 pesos all the way back to the Royalton hotel then $20 US from the hotel gate for the last 4 km. by the taxi the hotel lets onto is property.
