Mayan Monkey Hostel & Bar | Cancún

I really loved my stay at the Mayan Monkey! The quality of amenities were amazing. They offered free "breakfast" (cereal, toast, juice) as well as supper (burgers for example). The rooms were really nice quality, I loved the curtains for the bunks and the bracelet-fob access. The rooftop pool and bar were great as well. They offer events like most hostels do and these were well done. The only thing I would say could have been improved was the cleanliness of the bathroom. I understand it's the other travelers causing the mess, and that it is difficult to know if that traveler is still here or if they've checked out already and therefore it can be hard to know whether to remove wet towels or shampoo bottles or shavers etc. I think it would be ideal if staff removed everything from the communal shower daily, and travelers would then learn not to leave them in these spaces. Overall I would stay here again however!

This place is amazing!! It has a beautiful view, the staff is super friendly and the party is always on point 👌 you can always walk down to the bars and night clubs it's a 10 min walk at most and the public beach is just across the street. I would totally stay here again I met some amazing people and had an amazing time, shout out to Mayan Monkey !🥳

Nice decoration. Close to the beach and cheap. This place may be very good for social purposes during normal time. During pandemic, it is kinda risky. All the kids who live in the dorm/shared rooms of the hostel roaming around without masks or any distancing as if the pandemic never existed. It is also loud as it is by the main road with cars driving by all the time and the restaurants playing loud music until late night. There were drunk and depressed kids ranting. A little bit frat feeling. No wonder that the hostel has many rules and emphasizes about alcohol, drugs and etc.Good enough for my one night stay for flight transferring.

Great place to stay if you’re young. Easy to meet people and has a bar and a pool with a view. You won’t get all the amenities of a hotel, but definitely worth it for the price. Mayan Monkey has another location in Tulum that is just as nice.

The places seemed nice and had a fun atmosphere, but I have to leave a poor review because they refused my friend at the door because of his service dog. I know there are a lot of poorly behaved "service dogs", but his is well trained and had given no reason to refuse service. After telling him he couldn't stay they also had him leave the lobby and left him without aid for where to stay the night.
