I have stayed there many times and the only reason it get any stars at all is that the rooms are clean. And it is along the highway going through Matehuala and it is cheap. The beds are so worn-out so it not even funny. The TV has seen it's best days.
I tried another hotel close by one time. It was even worse . However, the remodeled bathroom looks nice, but there is no hot water. To say that you get what you pay for is not totally accurate. I once stayed at a beautiful pension in Tijuana Beach and that was $19 per night and that had a kitchen.
The once most likely grandiose Hotel Palacio Imperial cost $15 for a single and $22 for a double
Wonderful staff. Very curtous and informative. It is clean and no bugs. The place looks like it had better days, could use some cosmetic repairs and softer towels.
