Santa María Apiplhuasco is a town of just 700 inhabitants, it belongs to the municipality of Ixhuatlán de Madero. It is a community of speakers of the Otomí or ñuhú / yuhú language, the main festivities are the “nt’ëni” carnival, the day of the dead “ngodü” and the patronal feast (ngó / ngopa) is December 12. Its main activities are agriculture and a little livestock.
