Hospiten Cancún

Biggest medical scam! After my 12 year old son was rushed from our Paradisus hotel by ambulance to this hospital from what we later found out was a food allergy (not diagnosed by this hospital by the way), they would not work on him without payment first. They don’t take American Express, which had our medical insurance tied to it. The ambulance wanted payment up front too - and they took Am Ex and left the hospital ($2,000+)! The hotel doctor wanted payment before the ambulance left the hotel! The hospital wanted thousands so we just put down credit cards at their finance desk, as our son was so sick. His IV was in his arm wrong (swelling up from misplaced fluid) and they wouldn’t touch him until we paid. Only doctor and finance lady spoke English. The people in the bay next to us were trying to find space on credit cards for treatment of a broken arm and an elderly lady was at the front who needed $11,000 paid before they would airlift her husband to Miami for treatment for his heart attack. All of us were Americans. When I asked why so much, they said they were a “private” hospital and we could go to the public hospital and wait for days in emergency. It was already past midnight by this time - we paid and stayed. We just got another bill at home for $12,000 more - such a scam!!! Oh, and the hotel doctor cost a lot too - and called us at 6am the next morning to collect a “balance due from night before”, before we checked out!!!

Sent here by our hotel following 3 out of 4 family members becoming ill with food poisoning. They would not treat us until we paid despite us barely being able to stand. Me and my 5yr old were placed on IV drip and antibiotics. They took them out at 3am and then sent us home in a cab. The next day was informed that the hotel has a connection to this hospital and that the doctor who advised us it was food poisoning was not available to confirm this with the hotel manager and no other doctor or medical professional was available to discuss our medical documents which were in Spanish.

The doctor gave me a medicine that I love it! I normally flight to Cancun very often and the medicine they give me always works great, their crew is very professional, the level of attention of this place is excellent!

Our daughter had her finger to be looked at. First they tried to do x-rays on her - which didn’t make any sense. We denied that and later, when the pediatric came, it was all good. He examined the little one profoundly, spoke good English and sent us home with a prescription for a cortisone cream.
