Catedral de Mérida - San Ildefonso

This Cathedral in Mérida is one of the oldest cathedrals in the Americas. It’s the major icon of the city and the coat of arms on the cathedral facade was originally designed to reflect the Spanish royal coat of arms.

This place was incredible.... The pipe organ inside was like nothing I've ever seen in my life. Merida is amazing... I probably won't ever go back to Mexico again because a multitude of bad experiences during my last trip... But, if I do it will be because of this place. I am not even catholic... but the city of Merida blew my mind with the architecture and above all the cathedral. I couldn't say enough good things about this place.

The style is characteristic from the first religious edifications the spanish did on the continent. The design is simple and majestic. The columns inside will take your breath away as the gigantic cross that is found inside. Come and enjoy the architecture. Very recommendable.

Lively church. I was told it is the oldest in north America. At 8 on Saturdays the front of the church lights up with a beautiful history show.

Beautiful landmark. Centro de Merida is a colorful place full oh history and kind people. Must see and enjoy.
