The Diplomat Boutique Hotel

This is a truly special place - the hosts have thought of everything to make your stay totally relaxed & memorable. The rooms, public spaces and pool were all well-appointed and clean. The breakfasts were out of this world. There is even a little shop and honesty bar too! One of the best hotels ever.

This was the most welcoming place we ever stayed at! Neil and Sara are the perfect hosts. They not only provided us with an incredible stay but also supported our trip planning for the days after. We would come back anytime.

Where to begin... I have traveled a lot and have stayed in more hotels than I care to remember but this has to be one of my favorites. The hotel only has four rooms and the owners, Neil and Sarah, make you feel as if you're part of their family. The design is exquisite, the rooms are very comfortable but it is the service that really makes this place stand out. An unbelievable vegetarian breakfast, made different every day, complimentary tequila and mezcal (and not the cheap stuff) in the afternoons, and thoughtful and tasteful gifts in your room every day, a hotel by travelers for travelers indeed. Not to be missed.

A place for Kings and Queens In a place not far from one of the Seven Wonders "Chichen itza" is Merida located. Charming as a not yet know princess living in a poor village in a fairy tail Well Merida is far from a poor village, it has charming buildings, food, and squares stacked with culture often in terms of shows. in the daytime Merida lays at rest and await the cooler evening hours, but then the city start boilling with Mexican energy in all it forms and colors. Before and after enjoying the city we lived in the most amazing location, not only because of the big charming room, neither the refreshing pool, or the sublime crazy good breakfast. No.. Its all about Niel and Sarah, the two lovely owners whom really nailed every aspect regarding costumer care. They made our stay in Merida Speciel and unique. How did they do that? every morning when greating us or serving breakfast they showed sincere concern regarding our day and plans. They really like to help us make the best of our time and therefor helped us book restaurants, suggest rutes to fulfill our wishes and they where really good to understand our needs and personas. They really really lifted the value every day during our stay at the diplomat and the name could not be more "right showing" of what Niel and Sarah are doing in Merida - They are true diplomats and The Diplomat is the only right way to stay in Merida. Airbnb and hotels provide a room and a bed. Niel and Sarah provide you with Mexican culture, plans, suggestions, guiding, concierge service, small piece of heaven in the pool with a drink from the pool bar which btw is free ;)

Where is the 6th star for this magnificent guesthouse. The best place lonely planet never featured. Despite the setting, location, rooms, Etc Etc. Neil and Sara are the hosts with the most. I cannot speak highly enough of our short time here.
