Zoológico Miguél Álvarez del Toro

You need to be in a group of 12 to enter, it didn’t take long for enough people to arrive which was lucky, you have to go on as part of a tour (all in Spanish). Lots of cool animals (about 70% are birds) all from Chiapas and it has a somewhat natural feel so some of them just roam the property! Definitely worth it for 35 pesos

A must go! This zoo is special because while it does have animals behind fences and in large terrariums, it also has a large amount of animals out and about living their best lives without being encaged. The howling monkeys, the giant enclosure of guacamayas, it is really special. At the end of the trail, there is an outdoor cafeteria providing you with all the local botanas, fruit and veggies. A real treat after the journey through this magical zoo. I love taking my kids here to explore, there is always something new that we discover!

Lots of waking. LOTS. Like 5km or so one guy joked. Spectacular displays, even though I don't like the idea of animals cooped up. One of the best zoos I've ever visited.
