Playa del Carmen Alterna

I rode the Ado bus from Playa del Carmen to Belize city. The bus leaves from the alterna terminal at 12:40 am (middle of the night) and makes stops in Tulum, Chetumal and some others. It’s about 5hrs to the boarder and 9hrs to Belize city. It costs 885 pesos and we purchased our tickets at the bus terminal a few days in advance. I spent a lot of time searching online trying to book tickets and couldn’t find anything until after we purchased our tickets in person. Overall, it was a decent experience and we were able to get a lot of sleep on the ride. The a/c is very cold so bring a long sleeve shirt or jacket. Since we flew into Mexico we had already paid the departure tax in the cost of our flight so we did not need to pay anything when crossing the boarder. Although it didn’t appear that anyone on the bus was required to pay the departure tax.

Very good transportation. Staff provide good service. Safety and security. Cheap compare than other transport services.

It's very clean and not too crowded. Went to buy my ticket to the airport several days before. No problem communicating even though I don't speak any Spanish. The driver was very nice. He even told me which terminal to get off.

Love this ADO station. The one on fifth street is a bit crazy, but even though this one is bigger and had longer lines the employees were super nice and understanding.
