Pemex

Pemex is government owned. Rented a scooter. Needed gas. Stopped here. Many, many “attendants” milling about. They all came running. They insist they pump gas. They insist on credit. I say, no, cash only. Then they bring a hose that originates from another pump. They insist they have no way to make change. I owe about $6. They want a $20. I give them a 5 + two 1s. Then we are directed to leave as we are blocking the tarmac. Like being forced into a 3 card monte game on the street in NYC. Petty.

We stopped at this location to fill up our rental car. It was a much better experience than at another location last week. The young gentleman zeroed the meter, confirmed I wanted regular, and I wanted it filled. He carefully cleaned our windshield. I asked for a receipt and he gladly obliged. He even asked me to write out how to say “receipt” or “recibo” so he could learn it. I paid in cash with pesos which is always best. A good experience and no problems.
