Mercado Municipal

The market is a great place to spend some time, buy fresh produce and mets plus eat local food and observe local island culture. This is an authentic experience not a conjured up activity for tourists. There are markets just like this all over Mexico in every big town. The fish you buy here slept in the sea last night. Hoof meats fed in the pasture yesterday. No preservatives - all natural fresh food every day!

Fish market is great. One booth has spices and peeled garlic. Other vendors sell Vega and fruit; plastics; traditional pottery; clothing or shoes. Out the back on 25th you can buy fresh tortillas. Also there are restaurants. But most of it closes by 2 pm.

I go for the best carnitas mulitas and tortas in town. Very rough and ready- don’t expect formal, you may be sharing a table- but the food is great and cheap

This is the melting pot of San Miguel. You can get everything fresh here at the market; seafood, fish, meat, fruits & veggies. Along with the numerous vendors selling raw ingredients there are several selling prepared foods including several ethnic choices; Thai, Pilipino, and regular Mexican take away eats.

We have breakfast and shop here every week. Fresh fish, meat and fruits y vegetables.
